Pop Weirdos live up to their name with 'Mid Life' and 'Alcudia'


Pop Weirdos occupy an underserved niche in Atlanta's music scene. Like their name implies, the singer-songwriter duo of Bennett Kane and Jamison Murphy craft off-kilter pop music with unabashed joy, reveling in catchy melodies without obscuring them in lo-fi production or sheets of reverb. 

The duo's latest tracks, "Alcudia" and "Mid Life," were recorded by Kane at the Tone Loft, and show promise for the recently-formed group. 

"Alcudia" floats on a bossa-style pulse guided by Murphy's Bobby Darin-like crooning, evoking the best of starry-eyed cocktail ballads complete with lavish string arrangements.…
