'Oxford American' has Georgia on its mind

In case you missed the news, Oxford American's annual "Southern Music" issue hits newsstands this month, and it's all about Georgia. The issue is thick with stories by Peter Guralnick, Dust-to-Digital's Lance Ledbetter, and CL's own senior writer Rodney Carmichael. The accompanying CD features cuts from a diverse array of Peach State acts covering everyone from James Brown to Smoke, Killer Mike to Pylon, the Indigo Girls, Ruby the RabbitFoot, OutKast, and many more acts.

To celebrate, OA is hosting a launch party at Eddie's Attic on Mon., Dec. 7, with performances by Col. Bruce Hampton & the Madrid Express, Robert Lee Coleman & the Night Owls, Waiting for UFOs (featuring former Smoke members Bill Taft, Brian Halloran, and Will Fratesi), Jake Xerxes Fussell, and Art Rosenbaum.
