Some Kind of Hate: Atlanta hardcore strikes back

Once again, there’s been a years-end injection of new blood flowing through Atlanta hardcore. Last year, it was the veteran members of Nurse, Slugga, and Uniform strengthening an already vibrant scene.…

Barreracudas' hit the road in December

Last week, Atlanta rockers Barreracudas teased the group's December tour with a video shot locally by Ian Cone. It features the kind of tomfoolery one should expect from the band responsible for the most outrageously awesome album cover of 2015, including a slow-motion pizza assault.

The band is traveling this week with brother bands Easy Magick, Shocked Minds, and DINOS Boys to the Good Vibrations Festival in Austin, Tex. From there, the guys will play a string of West Coast dates with New Jersey based (or so they claim) ruffians Personal and the Pizzas.

Nick Lowe's quality holiday revue

Lowe’s holiday set avoids the obvious and keeps Christ in Christmas. British power pop and new wave legend Nick Lowe is perhaps best known for penning Elvis Costello hit "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding." Four decades later, Lowe's message is "Peace on Earth" as he continues to tour each December on 2013's Quality Street: A Seasonal Selection for All the Family (Yep Roc).…

Charles Kelley is ‘The Driver’

Pop country songsmith shows off his dark side. It's not often that an artist embarks on a headlining tour behind the release of one single — especially with no full-length release date on the horizon, and no go-to numbers in the setlist to control the ebb and flow of the crowd. But for Lady Antebellum Charles Kelley, whose debut single, "The Driver," was released in September, a six-month-to-a-year hiatus in touring with the band presented a natural opportunity.…
