Wrecking Ball ATL unveils a stacked lineup for 2016

The second annual Wrecking Ball ATL offers something for pretty much everyone whose tastes have been shaped by the much ballyhooed music of the '90s,

Today, Noisey revealed this year's lineup, which dropped a few jaws due in part to the sheer number of indie, punk, and noise rock cornerstones topping the bill. After all, what were the chances locals would ever see members of L7, Dinosaur Jr., Kathleen Hanna's Julie Ruin project, and Drive Like Jehu at the same place without boarding an airplane or a time machine?…

Summer Twins's Chelsea Brown talks multi-generational pop

Few '60s pop revivalists write original material as effectively as California's Summer Twins. Sisters Chelsea (guitar, vocals) and Justine Brown (drums, vocals) cull rock's back pages for surf, doo-wop, girl group, and punk influences that accentuate their seamless pop harmonies.…

My Son Gordeaux emerges

The WonderRoot basement has long been the spot for cultivating Atlanta's best up and coming projects.  It's a room where you can be-bop around and sing with reckless abandon because your friends bands are your favorite bands.  The Femignome CD release is a great glimpse into an emerging scene in Atlanta and support band My Son Gordeaux are a perfect band for the arts space basement.  Camilia, Sophia, and Taylor (no last names on their page) blend lo-fi hooks and self described "ATL fem hap sap w/ a male drummer" on their EP "Peach Pit."  Lots of oohs and aahs, verses that repeat for that quick to sing along vibe, drums locked in on the two and the four, and electric guitar lines that run up and down your spine.  Sea Ghost and Heavy Eyes round out a stacked bill of rising talent.

My Son Gordeaux plays WonderRoot on Thurs., March 24.…

Intronaut crafts brutal melodies with 'Direction of Last Things'

Los Angeles natives Intronaut may not have the name recognition of established metal bands like Neurosis or Mastodon, but the group doesn’t need the crowd-pull to lay down a great song. Bringing the intricacies of jazz and music education to the ugly, grisly mentality of sludge metal, the band leaves a unique stamp on the heavy-end of the  progressive music scene.…
