The upscale jazz club opened up in 1997, and has since hosted an array of jazz and blues bands from local rising stars to renowned touring groups. Prominent Atlanta jazz musicians such as Grammy-nominated trumpeter Russell Gunn oversaw jam sessions that provided an important training ground for locals to hone their talent in a city with few dedicated jazz clubs.
While Churchill Grounds' future remains uncertain, owner Samuel Yi wrote in a Facebook post that he is "looking for other locations and possible investors who [will] carry this music into a new Churchill in [the] near future."
