MTN ISL is Atlanta rock’s band of mad scientists — concocting a sound from strands of noise rock, stoner metal, and post-punk. A string of singles from the band’s forthcoming self-titled album (out Dec. 18 on CD and cassette via Muckman Records) capture the group's caustic creativity.
The latest of these teasers, “Lava Hue,” balances brute force, angular precision, and poetic beauty — guitarist Gene Leath sings, “Your love is brighter than the sun/ and I’ll bathe in it, I’ll soak it up,” amid waves of controlled chaos.
